How to Vote for a President When You Are Overseas
- 1). Request your absentee ballot. The process varies slightly by state. You can do this online through the Overseas Vote Foundation website.
- 2). Complete the information portion of the ballot. This includes basic information, such as your name, date of birth and your previous address in America.
- 3). Vote for your favorite candidates. If you are living abroad indefinitely, you can only vote for president, vice president, and your state senator and representatives. You will not be able to vote in smaller local elections or for other initiatives on the ballot.
- 4). Place your ballot in the enclosed envelope.
- 5). Mail from the post office to ensure correct postage. The envelope may require additional postage to ship overseas or due to its size.
