Simla or Shimla, as you called it, has been ever named as the queen of hills. Now being the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, it was at times also the capital city of Punjab. Places of interest in Shimla:

Summer hill, which is situated 6,500ft above the railway line from Ridge, is the land where once even Mahatma Gandhi lived. It also houses the Himachal Pradesh University. Annandale is a developed playground, 2 to 4 km from Ridge situated at a height of 6,117 ft. It is a preferred spot for cricket, picnics and polo and evening walks. Kufri is located 16 km from Shimla at a height of 8,600 ft and forms the most famous local winter sports centre with a small zoo.

Junga is 26 km from Shimla near Tehsi which also hold the royal embrace of the colonial styled infrastructure, better known as the Keonthal Estate.
