Audio Recap:Maternity Leave Audio
Aaron is very fussy and Claire tries to soothe him, but can't. She wakes Locke and tells him that Aaron is burning up and he's got a rash. She wants to find Jack, but Locke tells her that Jack is on shift at the hatch. Claire starts to head for the hatch, but Locke stops her and says he'll go get Jack.
Jack sleeps on the couch in the hatch and Locke wakes him to tell him that the baby has a fever.
They both look toward the closed armory door. Locke says, "He asleep?"
Jack says, "Not a sound all night. I'll get back here as soon as I can."
Danielle Rousseau and the Sick Baby
Claire puts a cold rag on Aaron's forehead and talks to him, but he continues to cry. Rousseau approaches and Claire holds Aaron tightly. "What are you doing here?" Claire says. "Stay away from us.""He's infected, isn't he?"
Claire tells her to get away and Rousseau says, "You don't remember, do you?"
Images flash quickly by in Claire's mind: a crib with a plane mobile, a cold locker opening to reveal vials of a medicine, a woman's hands knitting a baby bootie, a cap being unscrewed from a canteen, the face of a young woman, a syringe, a swab of alcohol swiped across a pregnant belly and a long needle inserted, Rousseau and Claire struggling, and we hear a man's voice say, "It's a vaccine, we don't want him to get sick."
Kate runs over and yells at Rousseau to get out of their camp and to leave Claire and the baby alone.
Rousseau leaves and Kate asks Claire what happened. "She says there's something wrong with him," Claire says.
Jack comes and looks over the baby. He doesn't think it's anything to be worried about.
After he leaves, Kate assures Claire that if there was something wrong with Aaron, Jack would know.
The next morning, Claire and Kate walk across the beach, "Are you sure about this?" Kate asks. "We don't really know her."
"I think she can help me," Claire says.
Kate and Claire come upon Libby and Hurley. Claire says to Libby, "So you're a shrink right?"
"I'm a clinical psychologist," Libby says, "but 'shrink' works, too."
Claire asks if she can help people remember things and Libby says it depends on what they are trying to remember. Claire and Kate fill Libby in on Claire's abduction.
Libby says, "Claire, I don't think you have amnesia. You know, sometimes when something terrible happens to us there's a switch in your head that flicks on to protect us from having to deal with it. Maybe your memories aren't gone. Maybe you're just blocking them."
"Then I need you to unblock them," Claire says, "because my baby's sick and they did something to him."
Dostoyevsky
Locke opens the armory door and he and Jack give Henry some food. Jack asks if he has to use the bathroom and Henry says no. Locke tosses him a book and Henry says, "Dostoyevsky? You don't have any Stephen King?"Locke says the library is a little outdated and he and Jack go out and shut the armory door.
Jack asks what's up with the book and Locke says it's just something to pass the time. Locke asks what the long term plan with Henry is.
Jack says, "Well, John, let me ask you this: we don't have a long term plan for the button, but we keep pushing it, don't we? Look, until we know who he is, whether or not he's telling the truth, we have to keep doing what we're doing. If you've got a better idea, let's hear it."
"Why don't you let me go?" Henry says faintly from the other side of the armory door.
