How to Register for Federal Grants
- 1). Go to grants.gov---a storehouse of more than 1,000 federal grant programs.
- 2). Use the "Grant Search" link to browse federal grants by agency, category and advanced search.
- 3). Search grant opportunities. Write down the fund opportunity number for grants you plan to apply for.
- 4). Register for individual grant opportunities. This step is necessary to apply for grant opportunities. The registration process can take up to four weeks, so register early.
- 5). Click on the "Individual Registration" link. This step will allow you to register as an individual and apply to grant opportunities indicating individual eligibility.
- 6). Enter your first and last name, job title, telephone number, email, secret question and answer, username and password. You will verify the password in a second box. Click "Continue."
- 7). Validate the registration page. The system allows you to verify the information you entered.
- 8). Check your email for a notification that confirms the registration process is complete. Click "Continue."
