- A career .334 hitter, he hit 307 home runs and 2,927 hits in 20 seasons.
- Won two batting titles, hitting .381 in 1930 and .390 in 1931.
- Drove in 157 runs in 1929 and 165 in 1930.
- Called "Bucketfoot Al" because of his stance, when he stepped toward third base when batting.
- Had 11 consecutive seasons hitting better than .300 and driving in 100 runs.
After Baseball:
- Elected to the Hall of Fame on his eighth try, getting 75.38 percent of the vote in 1953. His percentage is the lowest ever for an inductee.
- Died of a heart attack in 1956.
