A jealous Steph re-enters the pub as the mystery man still lurks outside. She hesitates before approaching Max, then asks him who Morgan’s talking to across the room. Max doesn’t know and suspects that Steph’s jealous. Steph denies it at first, then admits to being jealous. She reminds him that Morgan’s his ex-girlfriend and doesn’t think she should be so touchy-feely with him. Max says that’s just how Morgan is and refers to it as the whole Southern charm thing.
Steph is embarrassed that she’s acting so possessive, but Max refers to it as kind of sexy, joking about two hot chicks fighting over him. Steph approaches Morgan to apologize. A smiling Morgan introduces her to Joel from the health club. After Joel excuses himself, Steph notes how cute he is. Morgan reveals that he gave her his phone number and apologizes for doing anything to upset her. Steph apologizes for acting like a child earlier. Morgan assures her that there’s nothing going on with Max and asks Steph if she loves him. By Steph’s hesitation, she assumes that Steph does love Max and asks if she’s told him yet. Steph says she’s tried a million times, but the words haven’t come out of her mouth yet. Morgan encourages her to say those three little words. Steph then approaches Max and says she and Morgan are cool, then asks him if they can talk. Max assumes it’s about her parents. Steph demurs that it’s about the two of them and how she feels about him. Max tells her to give him two minutes, then turns off the lights and announces that the pub is having power problems.
With the exception of Morgan, the customers exit the pub, including the mystery man. Max then turns the lights back on, which is Morgan’s cue to leave.
Steph explains how she’s wanted to tell him how she feels for a very long time, but she keeps putting it off for fear that she’ll scare him away. She finally confesses that she loves him. Steph turns away from a tongue-tied Max and assumes that she freaked him out. Max apologizes and claims she just caught him off-guard. An uncomfortable Steph admits she didn’t think it would go this way. She shares how they would have a romantic setting like a beach at sunset, with wine, cheese, and music, where she would tell him that she loves him and he would give her the most amazing kiss. Then, he would look into her eyes and brush her hair behind her ears and say that he loves her too. Max gathers some wine behind the bar, turns on some music, then gathers the courage to tell her that he loves her too. They share a passionate kiss and dance to the song Right Here by J.D. Webb. Meanwhile, the mystery man still lurks outside the pub and watches the them.
At the Vitali compound, Angelo and one of the guards, Mikey, enter Kayla’s room. Kayla demands to know where everyone is and if they’re okay. Angelo claims they’re being taken care of and insists that they just focus on her, stating that they have a cozy little room set up for her. A stubborn Kayla wants to talk to Ava alone. Angelo begins to leave a veiled threat, but Kayla reminds him that she’s carrying the baby that Ava wants, so he’s not going to hurt her. Ava comes into the room and agrees to talk to Kayla alone. Angelo exits the room.
Kayla insists that Steve wasn’t himself back then when he fell in love with Ava. Ava suggests that he’s not himself now, since the man she fell in love with had an edge and wasn’t afraid of anything. “Well that man isn’t coming back. And I think deep down you know that,” states Kayla, who implores Ava to be realistic. Ava pops a pill and tells her to do the same. Kayla notices Ava’s pills and questions what they are, reminding Ava that she’s a doctor so maybe she can help. Ava reluctantly tosses her pills in the air to Kayla, who questions where she got them. “A vending machine,” quips Ava. Kayla asks who prescribed them. Ava snatches them back and says they’re done. Kayla claims she’s asking because she only wants her to get better. Ava’s convinced that Kayla doesn’t give a damn about her, but Kayla insists that she needs to make sure that Ava’s healthy enough to take care of the baby Kayla’s carrying. Ava promises to be a good mother. Kayla encourages her to talk about the drugs. Ava reveals that she’s seen about half of the doctors in the state and they haven’t been able to help her. Thus, she doubts Kayla can. Kayla admits that she’s seen and dealt with a lot of people in a similar situations. Ava assumes that Kayla thinks she’s crazy, but Kayla denies this. “You tried to kill yourself didn’t you?” assumes Kayla. By Ava’s silence, Kayla assumes she’s right and asked when she tried to kill herself. “Right after Patch left,” replies Ava, who reveals that she’s been on suicide watch ever since.
Kayla questions what Ava’s diagnosis was. Ava refers to her condition as brief psychotic disorder, which Kayla is familiar with. “It’s an illness that’s triggered by a traumatic event,” defines Kayla, who says the symptoms shouldn’t have lasted for more than a month. Kayla suspects that her pills might be causing more harm than good and advises her to get a second opinion. “My shrink was hand-picked by my father,” explains Ava, who is convinced that her daddy wouldn’t hire a quack. Kayla asks more questions about the pills, which annoys Ava. A paranoid Ava predicts that Kayla will go straight to Patch and turn him against her. Kayla claims that Steve only wants her to get better and encourages Ava to open up about the pills. She speculates that whoever’s prescribing the pills doesn’t have Ava’s best interests at heart, sensing that the pills are making her agitated rather than relaxed. “You know what? Maybe it’s not the pills. Maybe it’s you!” retorts a belligerent Ava.
Ava pounds on the door calling for Angelo and tells him to get Kayla out of there, but warns the goons not to hurt her. After the goon takes Kayla out, Ava smiles deviously and implies that she and Patch need to spend some up close and personal time together.
