The majority of FSBO home sellers are not successful in selling their homes.
After a period of time they either take their home off the market or list the property with a Realtor.
There is one primary reason for this, and that is that they were never truly committed to selling their home themselves.
If they had been truly committed they would have done more research up front to learn about the process.
They would have been with real estate marketing companies, attorneys, inspectors and appraisers.
They would have made an overall plan for selling their home.
They would have staged the home to look its best for potential buyers.
But very few FSBO Sellers do all of these things.
Very few are passionately committed to make the process work.
In my experience most of them either expect to fail or just don't care.
Those that expect to fail are already thinking of their Plan B, such as calling a Realtor.
Those that don't care have the attitude of "let's just see what happens" but take very little action to achieve their goal.
The solution starts with assessing your own goals, motivations and desires.
Do you really want to do this or not? If not, then you are better off never starting the process, because you'll just be wasting time.
You'll be worse off in the long run than if you'd decided immediately not to try to sell it yourself.
If you really do, then you should immediately do your research and start meeting with people and make a plan you are comfortable with.
Don't enter it in a lukewarm or half-baked way.
Jump all the way in and start swimming as hard as you can.
