How to Get Rid of Pollen

    • 1). To help keep pollen from coming indoors, shut all windows and doors during spring and summer months when pollen is in the air. Close car windows while driving. Turn on the air conditioner to keep cool and help filter pollen from the air.

    • 2). Wash your hands with warm water and soap as soon as you come in from outside. Avoid keeping pollen-exposed clothes in bedroom clothes hampers. Take them directly to the washer. Wash and dry the clothes using indoor appliances -- and do not drape clothes outside to dry.

    • 3). Take a shower and change into a fresh pair of clothes if you have remained outside for an extended period of time.

    • 4). Operate an air purifier in your living room or bedroom. Operate a humidifier in your living space -- in conjunction with the air purifier -- that capture and remove microns of dust and pollen if you have highly sensitive allergies.
