What is your BMI? Based on your BMI score you can determine if you are normal weight, overweight or obese.
You are overweight if your BMI is between 25 and 30 and obese if your score is over 30.
While it isn't ideal to be overweight or obese, it is much worse to be obese.
When you are obese your risk of disease complications greatly increases.
If your BMI is over 30, it is in your best interest to lose weight and make it go down.
Luckily you don't have to do it alone.
You can get help as you lose weight.
You have a couple of options.
First, you need to accept the fact that you are obese.
Then you need to commit to change.
Some people choose to get surgery or use dangerous drugs to lose weight.
This isn't ideal.
The best solution to obesity is lifestyle changes.
Let's look at a few things that you can do to overcome obesity without spending a fortune.
Get Out and Exercise Exercise might not be fun, but it is a great way to start losing weight.
Start slowly, especially if it has been awhile since the last time you exercised.
Start by walking a half mile twice a day.
This will add up and will result in extra calories burned.
As you get used to this level of exercise, consider increasing distance or adding in other fitness routines.
This will keep your exercise new and entertaining and is a great way to lose weight.
Start Eating Right What do you eat on a typical day? Look around your house and make an honest evaluation of what you really put into your body each day.
Often obese people are amazed at just how much they eat on any given day.
Plus, the foods you are eating probably aren't all that healthy either.
Foods high in fats, sugars and chemicals aren't good for you and can quickly result in weight gain.
Clean out your house and fill it with nutritious and healthy foods.
It will be more difficult to eat junk if it isn't in your home.
You may need to start slowly.
Some people phase off unhealthy favorites one at a time.
Consider eliminating soda first, candy second and chips third, or whatever you need to do for your lifestyle.
Will power is key and will help you overcome your bad eating habits.
Turn to Others It will be easier to eat right and exercise if you have help.
Do you have friends that are struggling with obesity? Consider banding together and focusing on making right choices together.
You could walk in the mornings together or talk about your struggles when things get hard.
When you have people you can turn to that know how you feel it will be easier to lose weight and stick to your goals.
Don't try to do this alone.
Turn to others and get the help you need so that you can achieve your goals and get down to a healthier weight.
If you are obese it is time to change.
You are risking your healthy and future happiness.
Think about your family and friends.
They love you and want you to be healthy.
Make a change and work to lower your BMI.
By setting goals and working with others, you can achieve this goal and get to a healthy weight and a lower BMI.
