The Los Angeles-area classical repertory theatre company A Noise Within (ANW) has announced that it will present a week-long day camp, entitled All the World’s A Stage, for younger children ages 6-9, from July 21-25, 2014.

All the World’s A Stage introduces the children to the world of the stage and Shakespeare, helps them build social skills and will also encourage full-time fun. The week’s activities will include acting classes, stage combat, costuming and scene-making workshops and crafting galore.

Kids also learn improv, acting techniques, and vocal and movement exercises, along with technical theater knowledge.

The camp's week of theatre activities and appreciation will culminate in a final performance of their version of a Shakespeare play. Along the way, the young campers will acquire teamwork skills and confidence and develop their creativity to the fullest.

“Our program is very nearly one-of-a-kind," said A Noise Within’s Education and Community Outreach Director, Alicia Green, "as most summer theatre camps are designed for older children. All the World’s A Stage is unique in the skill level and social interaction it brings to children in this age range—and they appreciate the chance to work with real professionals in the theatrical arts, while learning and having fun.”

While play is the thing, so are the plays. A Noise Within’s summer programs have served as a launch pad for theatrical careers, even for the smallest fry, such as Rafael Goldstein, now one of ANW's Resident Artists, and Seven Pierce-English, a member of this year’s Macbeth cast.

Notably, all of the program’s instructors are working actors in as well as accredited theater educators. Green herself holds a Master’s degree in educational theater from the Steinhardt School at New York University. A classically trained actress who has taught nationwide, Alicia has also studied at Circle in the Square and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in New York.

All the World’s A Stage takes place Monday from July 21 through July 25, 2014, from 10 a.m.  to 4 p.m. daily. with pre-/post-care starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. A Noise Within is located on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Sierra Madre Villa Avenue at 3352 East Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107. Weeklong youth camp costs $360 includes snacks and supplies.

About A Noise Within

Founded in 1991, A Noise Within performs and promotes classical theatre as an essential means for our community to confront the universal human experience, expand personal awareness and challenge individual perspectives.Operating out of a former Masonic Temple in Glendale, they staged a production of Hamlet that was accessible and relevant at a time when classic theatre was not widely performed in Los Angeles. The twenty-year evolution from a small neighborhood theatre to the current acclaimed repertory company has been marked by constantly raising the bar on what great classical theatre can be. The move to a new, permanent home provided A Noise Within with expanded artistic possibilities, a greater scope of educational opportunities, and the capacity to meet demand and reach its full potential.

A Noise Within’s mission is to produce world-class performances of the great works of drama in rotating repertory with a resident company; to educate and inspire the public through programs that foster an understanding and appreciation of history’s great plays and playwrights; and to train the next generation of classical theatre artists.
