The current economic situation is called depressing, and millions of people suffer from it. Bad economic situation affects mental health (one has to think about how to save money and avoid getting broke) and causes depression. If you are experiencing problems dealing with financial crisis, this article will be helpful.
1. Don't isolate yourself. Hiding your bad financial situation from others is the worst thing you can do, financial experts say. Liza Gold, MD, a psychiatrist and clinical professor of psychiatry at the Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. says: |Don't allow yourself to become isolated by shame, which is very common. Other people should know you are having bad times now - there is no need to suffer in silence and pretend everything is great.
2. Accept your situation. You can't change anything until you accept it. Don't deny you are experiencing financial difficulties - just be brave enough to tell yourself this is not your best time. But everything will change soon, you just have to wait. Psychologists say that one can't get rid of pain without accepting it. And it's true for all life situations.
3. Don't beat yourself up. Don't punish yourself! All you have to do is to accept the situation, accumulate all your strength and keep on working the things out. What are you expecting to get from self-accusations? Right - nothing good. Everyone falls down in this life, and you have to find strength to get up.
4. Live in the moment. Most of us are used to living thinking about the past and worrying about the future. No wonder it appears that whole our life runs so quickly that we don't get a chance to enjoy it. You have to stop. Now. Take a few deep breaths, start doing yoga and jogging - something that will calm you down and set free from constant worries.
5. Take time for workout and friends. Physical exercises are considered to be one of the best stress relievers. If you don't want to get focused on your depression, you have to start do more of what makes you happy: hang out with your friends, take a walk in the forest, paint of sing. Just let yourself feel happiness!
Spend more time with happy people - according to recent researches, happiness is contagious. Besides, happy friends will certainly help you to get distracted from problems and relax.
6. Be good to yourself. 24 hours a day we think about money, relations, work and millions of other things. And money problems are the ones that concern us the most. Don't let anything break you. Most depressed people stop taking care of themselves and start drinking too much alcohol, smoking, not sleeping at night, eating sweets etc. Be kind and caring with yourself - you deserve it.
Money is an important part of our life, but we don't have to overvalue it. Money comes and goes, and health is something we have to cherish.
