Life Style Evolution of the Late 60's

Our lifestyle changes since the late 60's have a big impact on "Fat America." Between the late 60's and all of the 70's everyone was moving to the "Burbs", and those who lived in the smaller cities were selling their homes within walking distance of work and moving to the country. Those who previously lived near a train stationed and walked everyday were selling there in town properties and moving up to rural living. No one walked to work any more. Shopping centers took the place of the "Corner Grocery", enforcing the necessity of an automobile. This along with the introduction to fast foods, all you can eat restaurants, heavily refined foods, delivery service, computers, and video games that have made us less active and helping us to become the "Fat America" that we are.

I live in a rural area. I recently decided to put my money where my mouth is and walk to the Convenience store which is only aboutmile from my home. Good exercise for my diet. Three different neighbors stopped to ask me if something was wrong, if they could give me a lift and almost insisted that I take the ride. They looked at me as if I must be out of my mind to walk when I could ride. By the way, these were neighbors that I had never previously spoken to. This was not going to help me lose weight.

Give a Hand and Burn Fat

You lose weight by reducing how much energy you consume ( food) and by increasing how much energy you burn (by exercising or being more active). Your stored fat can be wasted by working out in a gym or sports complex or doing something useful like volunteering to run, and literally walk or run, errands, picking up debris along the roadside, cleaning yards and houses for shut ins, volunteering at your local hospital, becoming a Big Brother to a needy child or joining Habitat of America, a house project group for low income families. They will all give you a workout and you will feel better about yourself for doing this.

Happiness and Depression Impact your Eating Habits, so Be Positive - Your Great

The most important thing about any Self-Improvement is THE COMMITMENT. If you can stick to the commitment you have made to lose weight and become a healthier you, you will lose weight and depression will subside and happiness can shine through. You can do it.
