How to Translate Fructosamine Level to Average Blood Sugar
- 1). Review your lab report to find the level of fructosamine measured. The value should be displayed in micromoles units.
- 2). Find the values for the normal range of fructosamine. Normal ranges vary from lab to lab. A fructosamine level on your lab report that is higher than the normal range reflects high-average blood glucose.
- 3). Know that each 75-micromole change in fructosamine level compares to a 60 mg/dl-change in blood glucose level. For example, if your last fructosamine level was 250 micromoles, and it is now 375 micromoles, this indicates that your average glucose level has increased by 60 mg/dl since your last test.
