If you have a refrigerant leak problem, you better get someone who knows how to troubleshoot your auto air conditioning because a leak would result to inefficient cooling system capacity. After which all the refrigerant has been seeped, cooling finally fails. Since a leak may occur anywhere in the system, an auto air conditioning troubleshooting procedure must be performed as soon as possible.

Refrigerant leaks pass the seal and through the microscopic pores in hoses. This situation applies to all vehicles. Compared to older vehicles, newer vehicles have lower rates of refrigerant escape. This is true because modern vehicles are equipped with better seals and barrier style hoses. This lessens the auto AC repair efforts needed for the car because the leaks are only a few tenths of an ounce of refrigerant per year.

There are several auto air conditioning troubleshooting procedures that can be done to check for seepage. One good indicator of leaks on R-12 system is the oil stains and wet spots. These are not obvious on R-134a systems where leaks are hardly spotted.

Other auto air conditioning troubleshooting methods include adding a special dye to the system, spraying plain or soapy water on hose connections to check for bubbles. After seeing a leak, you should seek proper auto air conditioning fix before recharging the system. O-rings, seals or hoses replacement are the commonly used procedures for leak repairs. There are different ways to identify and discover the source of leak. However, most auto mechanics find an electronic refrigerant leak detector to be the fastest and safest way.
