19th Century Style Furniture
- A large majority of furniture produced in the 19th century is based around reinterpretations of previous styles. This includes Neo-Gothic, Neo-Grecque (French) and King Louis XV and King Louis XVI revivals. "Neo" literally means "new," so all these styles are "new" interpretations of their predecessors.
- Though some 19th century styled furniture drew from past pieces of furniture, some new styles also were developed during the 19th century. This includes cottage styled furniture or arts & crafts styled furniture, both of which are still popular today.
- Of course, not all styles fall into two basic categories. There are possibly hundreds of different styles of furniture that were produced in the 19th century, including Regency styled furniture, Adam styled furniture, Elizabethan, Shaker, Sheraton and Victorian.
