The Benefits of Accidental Life Insurance Policies

    Cost

    • Accidental death and dismemberment policies are generally the most affordable types of life insurance plans, but they have limited coverage.

    Additional Coverage

    • AD&D insurance plans offer extra coverage for the loss of limbs due to an accident. If you lose an arm or leg, fingers or toes, or your eyesight, or if you become paralyzed, you will be paid the agreed-upon cash benefit.

    Available as a Rider

    • Accidental death and dismemberment policies are frequently available as riders to traditional health and life insurance plans. This means AD&D insurance can be purchased along with your other insurance. A normal accidental death policy will pay up to double the amount of your traditional life insurance.

    No Proof Required

    • Accidental death and dismemberment insurance policies do not require that you provide proof of insurability. If you do not qualify or meet the minimum requirements for other insurance policies, you can still obtain some coverage through an AD&D plan.

    Additional Benefits

    • Many AD&D policies come with additional benefits. These benefits may include assistance for child care, coverage for comas, education benefits, grief counseling and a bonus for use of seat belts and airbags.
