Writing for the web entails that the writer delivers the gist of the information right away by stating a brief summary of the article.
It also helps if the article contains an organized structure by havingheadings, topic sentences, highlighted keywords or bullet points to make it easy to read.
Lastly, a concise article that has an objective point of view will be beneficial to readers.
Any kind of writing has a purpose.
Hence, when writing an article you should be able to convey right away what it is about and why it matters.
In addition, most people online are impatient and are under time constraints, therefore readers will appreciate it if the first paragraph includes the summary of the article so they have an idea of what it is about.
Later on, if they want to know more then they can just read the rest of the article.
An article has to be organized properly in order to break up unrelated information and for it to flow naturally.
This also aids the writer when mapping out ideas and figuring out where certain information should be placed.
The most common way that an article is organized is by using headings.
Headings introduce what each paragraph in the article is about.
It is followed by a topic sentence, which narrows down an idea per paragraph.
This results in sentences that make sense and are related to the topic sentence.
Highlighted keywords can also be used to denote the importance of the terms.
Furthermore, bullet points can help simplify ideas and communicate them faster.
It has become a standard procedure to produce concise articles when writing for the web.
Web readersusually scan important words, sentences or ideas when they are reading articles or trying to find sources online.
Also, keep in mind that writing for the web means that less is more.
Therefore, try to use less words as possible to convey an idea, opinion or information.
This does not mean that sentences in a paragraph will lose its value because it is not expressed thoroughly.
Minimizing the length of words just means that unnecessary words should be eliminated.
Lastly, an objective site will convey the notion that its intended purpose is not to sell its products and services or influence you into adopting their ideas.
Sites that are biased are the ones that people do not trust.
However, if your site's goal is tosell products and services, it would be wise to add a section wherein users leave comments about the product.
