Letter to a Three-Year Old Toddler

Dear Son, You just turned three, and as usual, mommy gets into the senti mode every time we celebrate your birthday.
It seems so yesterday when I labored for almost seven hours, when I gave birth to you, when I didn't know how to hold you because you were so small and I was afraid that I might hurt you, and when I breastfed you for the first time.
To tell you the truth son, there are times when Daddy and I would just look at you and wonder how you grew up so fast.
Mommy and Daddy taught you lots of things, but you know what, you also taught us quite a lot.
You made us realize that we're indeed capable of loving unconditionally.
You gave me enough courage to turn my back from my career just to be with you more often; I never thought I could do that..
until you.
You gave Dad so much courage to leave us for months so he could give you a better future.
Last dawn, while you were sleeping, Dad left again and I saw that he's teary eyed while kissing you goodbye.
That's how much he loves you; that's how far he's willing to go for you.
You taught us how to dream big, not just for ourselves but most especially for you.
Because of you, we also learned how to be children again.
Remember how Dad and I imitated Boots, Dora, and The Map? Or when suddenly out of nowhere, we did the Mr.
Incredible and Elastigirl ready-to-fight pose in front of you? We did that so many times! That was my favorite.
Remember our Oppa Gangnam Style dance steps? That was definitely your favorite.
I think Dad's favorite was chasing us around the house while wearing that horrible Halloween mask.
You really made us feel young at heart.
If I could turn back the time, there were things that I wished I never did as a mom.
I'm sure you don't remember them because you were just a baby.
I'm talking about those times when I left you even if you were sick because I had to go to the office.
Those times when I let you sleep with your yaya because I was so tired from work to get up and feed you at night.
Until now, I couldn't help thinking about those times.
Dad was not there; I should be there.
I shouldn't have left you.
I made a lot of bad decisions as your mom; I'm just thankful that I still have so many chances to do better.
I promise to do better, son.
You can count on mom's promise.
Lastly, we want you to know that we will continue to be the best parents we can be to you and to your baby sister/baby brother who's "sleeping" inside mommy's tummy.
Dad and I are looking forward to so many years with both of you, to lots of playing and lots of hugs, kisses, and "I love you's".
I'm especially looking forward to bringing you to Disneyland.
I'm sure Dad is especially looking forward to teaching you how to ride the motorcycle.
He told me that he wanted to buy one for you.
I think I'm going to faint when I see you ride and jump that motorcycle on the racetrack; I'm a little afraid..
and very excited.
We want you to know that as parents, we have big dreams for you, but when the time comes that you're big enough to dream for yourself, we will be behind you all the way.
Thank you son for making us so happy.
We love you beyond the sky! Happy Birthday! With hugs and kisses, Mom & Dad
