How to Clean Ammunition Without a Tumbler
- 1). Add 3 cups of water and 1 cup of toilet bowl cleaner to a container with a tight lid. Use a three-to-one ratio of water to cleaner and adjust the total amount as needed based on the container size and amount of ammunition brass.
- 2). Place the brass casings in the container with the solution. Close the lid and shake the container for five minutes to clean thoroughly.
- 3). Remove the brass shell casings from the solution in the container, rinse under running water, and allow to dry completely on a paper towel.
- 4). Pour 2 to 3 pounds of corncob blasting media in a pillowcase. Choose medium to coarse corncob media and adjust the exact amount based on the quantity of shell casings. Add the brass to the media and tie the end closed.
- 5). Place the pillowcase with media and shell casings in a dryer. Set the dryer to low heat. Allow the pillowcase, casings and media to tumble for up to 45 minutes. Remove the sack from the dryer and take out the brass casings.
