Paranormal Meets Science

Q: Do you think any aspects of the paranormal will be “proved” in the strict scientific sense of that word?

A: I think it is only a matter of time before somebody somehow somewhere manages to come up with undeniable proof of a ghost, UFO, poltergeist, telekinesis – you name it. Perhaps not all at once, but as scientists and paranormal researchers pool their knowledge, skills and talents, it seems inevitable.

Perhaps the one area with the most potential would be UFOs, should we have a landing caught on tape! I mean, with all the people out there with cell phone cameras, it’s bound to happen! But for the masses to accept proof of the paranormal on a widespread level, it might end up having to involve something that a large number of people can relate to, such as ESP or psychic abilities – something we all have a bit of a gift for in varying amounts. And, of course, the most provable events will be those that lend themselves to the known laws of science, such as quantum and theoretical physics. If you can take a paranormal event and show it exists within the confines of the known, even if you are talking about theoretical laws, laws not yet proven themselves but pretty close to being regarded as scientific truth, then that certainly helps.

Quantum physics opens the door to proving such things as ESP and psychic abilities, because of non-locality and entanglement, which are popular “hot” terms nowadays.

But even those events that involve varying forms and frequencies of energy, such as ghosts, poltergeists and even some UFO sightings, can find some semblance of proof in the quantum and theoretical world of physics, if more and more physicists open their minds and set about applying what they know to what they don’t know.

Q: What’s your view of the so-called Akashic Record? Is this just another name for “universal consciousness”? Or “God”?

A: What fascinates me is how many different religions, cultures and belief systems speak of this universal field of all/everything that we can all tap into and access past, present and future knowledge. I think Edgar Cayce was talking about the same Zero Point Field that everyone is exploring today, which sounds like the Book of Life of biblical times, and the collective consciousness of Jung, and the Kingdom of Heaven, which Jesus said was spread out before us, but that we could not see with our eyes.

I guess you could equate this field, this Hall of Records that contains every thought, action, behavior, as some kind of God, a creative and regenerative force from which all else springs forth. But perhaps this field is encompassed within something even greater, which could be God. Even at the quantum level, we know that everything is connected to everything else, so we are in a sense all a part of the web that also houses the Akashic Records, and all a part of the creative force that keeps it all together. God is just a word for “everything and anything that ever was, is and will be.”

Q: Do you think time travel is possible?

A: Absolutely. We know that time at the quantum level is not linear, and that past, present and future all exist at once. Again, it’s only a matter of time, talent and ingenuity on behalf of us “lowly humans” before we figure out a way to bend space and time to our benefit! Of course, there are many experiments that have been conducted, and some still going on, that have found success at sending a particle into the future. Okay, so it was maybe a millisecond of a millisecond of a millisecond into the future. But if that is possible, then it becomes possible, with further study, to figure out how to send that particle a second into the future. And one day a minute into the future.

Jenny Randles wrote a great book about this stuff called Breaking the Time Barrier. I highly recommend it. She covers time travel experiments over the last several decades. I had no idea so much was going on, and that some successes were on the books!

Q: Have you ever had a paranormal or unexplained experience yourself?

A: Being the daughter of a scientist, and quite an analytical little creature, I can say that I think I’ve had paranormal experiences. I did sense the presence of a poltergeist at a teenage friend’s house. This friend, about whom I write in the book, had a poltergeist in the house, and I did feel something very unusual one morning after staying overnight. Something I’d never felt before that felt “unreal.”

I also believe I saw a UFO – that is, an unidentified flying object – in La Costa, California in the late 1990s. I am not saying it came from Mars, but it was a type of vehicle I could not even fathom, even after being trained with MUFON and having some knowledge of the cutting edge military aircraft at the time. It was solid, with four lights, two in front, and two in back. And the damned thing moved through the dusk sky flipping end over end over end. It was amazing to watch as it went off into the hills and vanished. I couldn’t follow it. At the time, it was an open space area of rolling hills. Today it is another subdivision.

As a child, though, I did experience a lot of things. I believe I saw ghosts, alien creatures, and my sister and I insist a man drove a blue car through our bedroom! Really! I had visions as a child, which I could discern as being different from my dreams and nightmares, which I had plenty of. I was highly imaginative, but always knew when I was experiencing something not entirely “made up in my head.”

I did have a lot of rather mystical experiences as a child when I would spend time alone in nature. I was a tomboy, always out looking for birds and animal tracks and digging for fossils. Later, I took up meditation and had some experiences that were quite mystical, and were certainly profound enough to change my life and send me off in pursuit of metaphysical knowledge, eventually leading to the writing of this book. So, most of my more recent experiences have been more metaphysical, rather than paranormal, although it is all, in my mind, a part of the same big, grand mystery of life – that which is seen and that which is unseen.
