Sooty is a svelte black kitten, about four months old in this photo when he was adopted. Although still just a baby, his amber eyes gleam with the wisdom of the ages.

It took Laura a while to find Sooty, but when she visited the second RSPCA animal shelter in the U.K. it was love at first sight, and it still is, three months later.
