Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Charlotte Lawson, a registered and licensed dietitian, and I'm going to give you a couple tips on some key vitamins and minerals that are good to help your immune system and help you fight that bad bacteria. First, look at vitamin D. Vitamin D has a lot of positive in up and coming research, not only proven for immunity but also just decreasing our health risks for other diseases and chronic disorders as well. Vitamin D our body actually can make with just about ten minutes of sunshine and in those ten minutes you're producing almost ten, excuse me, one hundred thousand international units. So very easy to get and also vitamin D is in a lot of times our dairy products as well. It combines and works very very closely with calcium and again helping with our bone health as well as decreasing our risk for many health diseases. Also keep in mind the tried and true vitamin C. The citric acid really does help with your immune system, helps to fight off some of the bacteria that we have, also it's just keeping up on your good natural metabolism and when you have that full rounded sleep and then good hydration as well, they all work very very well together. Another couple vitamins to look at are your vitamin B6 and B12. B12 in particular helps with your red blood cell count. If your red blood cells are up, they're having a great source of oxygen and providing that to your, excuse me in providing the oxygen to your body as well as in nutrients. So your body can really stay up to par and keeping up on those vitamin Bs again just help with your overall metabolism as well as body function. Also just remember for overall immunity, try to get a good seven to eight hours of sleep every night as well as keep up on your fluids. So just a couple tips on some bacteria fighting vitamins. I'm Charlotte and eat happy.
