The Coconut Diet Reviewed

I have never been crazy about coconut.
I am not sure why, I just never ate it when I was a kid.
However, some cultures have eaten it for centuries and these same cultures as a whole show almost no incidence of obesity and the chronic diseases that are so prevalent in the US.
So is coconut oil consumption the reason? Well one diet believes so.
The Coconut Diet creators make the claim that coconut fats are different from other fats in that they are broken down by the body immediately and turned into energy rather than being stored.
In addition, they also state that this oil has many health benefits and can actually speed up metabolism.
So how does it work? Well, the plan has four phases:
  1. The Twenty-One Day Weight Loss Kickoff - This phase involves you eating three meals and two snacks daily made up primarily of lean meat and vegetables.
    No grains or fruits.
You should expect a weight loss total of around ten pounds during this phase.
  2. Cleansing - In this phase you will be drinking cleansing drinks and concentrating on cleansing your colon.
  3. Healthy Carbs - During this phase you will begin to eat whole grains and certain fruits.
  4. Maintenance - This phase is specific in its goals to have the dieter maintain their desired weight goal.
As far as exercise goes, this plan encourages dieters to work out aerobically and with weight training but there are little specifics.
This program has many positives including the emphasis on healthy vegetables and fruits and good carbs.
Also, it may provide other health benefits due to the detox nature of the plan.
In addition, coconut oil is a promising super food that needs more research.
As far as things to look out for, it is very low calorie which may prove to much for some dieters to cope with and there is little guidance for exercising.
This diet will be tough for most people but does have some positive aspects.
If you are a struggling dieter who continues to try and discard different plans, this might be one you should try.
