YourBaby Deserves The Warmest, Snuggest Night’S Sleep So Here Are Some Tips To Help Your Little On

Newborn Stage

When your baby is fresh out of the oven he/she will be sleeping in a baby grow or similar, in a Moses basket or perhaps a cot. Now is not the time to give them big heavy duvets - instead they need lightweight good quality blankets. Fleecy ones are nice for warmth and cellular blankets are great to let air in and out so baby doesn't get too hot or cold. Layers are the key here - build up the layers so you can creep in at night and strip a layer off or add one without waking them.

Toddler Stage

Before you know it your little one will be out of their cot and into a toddler bed. This is a medium sized small single bed which is low down to the floor in case they fall out. It also has a side panel to encourage them to stay in (though they are able to climb out if they want to - and they will!). You need to start thinking about duvets now. You can buy toddler bed-sized duvets (along with pillowcases and sheets). The duvet should be neither too heavy nor too light. The toddler is bound to embrace the new sleeping arrangements if they have some exciting duvet cover patterns to look at. Try and find something bright and cheerful with perhaps some cartoon characters on them.

Moving On

It won't be long before your child is ready to make the transition to a full-sized single bed (or maybe even a bunk bed!). You will need to get a bigger duvet now as the toddler bed one will be too small. You will also need bigger duvet covers, sheets and perhaps a full sized pillow.

...And Whatever Their Age...

Soft toys, books and mobiles are great for distracting children so they doze off without even realising as they play in their beds. (Keep toys and books away from newborns though). Make the bed inviting, cosy and snug and associate it as a place to play and relax, not just sleep. Install a soft night light or leave a landing light on so they are not in pitch black. Block out daylight by hanging thick blankets up on the windows. All this will make them feel much more inclined to spend a good solid chunk of the night (or day) sleeping so you can get on with the rest of your life, and maybe even have a lie in!
âEUR?

There are specialist professional companies out there who will do your laundry for you. However if you choose to do it yourself then obviously guests will expect pristine white sheets every day so be very careful to make sure that any linen that is showing signs of wear is retired. Use a gentle but efficient detergent and if you can line-dry then do as it is significantly less wearing on the material than tumble-drying.
