    • 1). Launch Photoshop on your computer and open the photograph you want to edit by clicking the “File” menu and selecting “Open.” Locate the photo in the navigation window and click the “Open” button.

    • 2). Zoom in on the beer can, or other object you want removed, by clicking the “Zoom” menu at the bottom of the main window. Examine the background around the beer can to see what you can use to replace it.

    • 3). Select the “Healing Brush” from the Toolbox. Adjust the size of the brush so that is smaller than width of the can by clicking the “[“ key. To make the brush larger, click the “]” key.

    • 4). Hold down the “Option” key. The tool changes to a "Cross Hair" symbol. Click on a spot in the background you can use to replace the can. This takes a sample of the image where you clicked. Release the “Option” key.

    • 5). Click on the can and hold down the mouse button. The spot where you clicked is replaced with the sample you took in Step 4. Notice that a “+” cursor appears where you took the sample.

    • 6). Drag the brush across the can without lifting the mouse button. Watch the “+” cursor as you paint the can.

    • 7). Stop painting when the “+” cursor approaches a place on the image that is not appropriate to use. Release the mouse button. When you click the mouse again, the “+” cursor will return to the original place where you took the sample.
