Berlin

• Berlin is the nation's capital city and is situated in its northeastern region. The cosmopolitan city is a hub for science, the media, politics, history and culture. Berlin is located on the River Spree's banks. • Hamburg is a German city in the northern portion of the country. Hamburg is notable for industry, media and transportation (the city's port is one of Europe's biggest container terminals). Hamburg is one of Germany's most green cities with its abundance of gardens and parks. • Munich is a vast metropolis in southeastern Germany in the state of Bavaria. The city serves as Bavaria's capital and runs along the River Isar. Munich is known for publishing and finances and has been in existence since 1158. The city is a brief drive away from the picturesque Bavarian Alps (approximately one and a half hours). • Cologne is the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is a state in the nation's central western region. Cologne is one of the country's oldest cities and was founded in 38 BC. The city, situated on the Rhine River, is a busy media center with many TV and radio stations. • Frankfurt am Main is a German city that is generally abbreviated simply as "Frankfurt." Frankfurt is in the state of Hesse, which is part of the country's western-central region. The city is a noteworthy European financial center and is the location of the headquarters of the German Federal Bank among others. Some of the city's primary attractions include the Goethe House, the Main Tower, the German Film Museum and Palmengarten.
