Primary - Flash Game Review

103 5
In Primary, you take control of 'Roy' a super 'Hueman'.
Your objective is to reach the top of Prizim tower, whilst avoiding color eating void who want to destroy the Hueman's world.
On each mission your goal will be to use a wide range of tactics and strategies that you will be taught to clear each floor and make it to the elevator without dying - once there you will progress to the next floor.
Primary has a unique style of game play, in which the player has access to changing the color of Roy, each color consisting of it's own benefits.
You will need to constantly toggle these colors if you so much as want to think about passing the beginner levels, so you will need to become familiar with the controls fairly quickly.
You start the game with a short summary of the objective of the the game, and soon after you're launched right into the mission.
On the starting floors you're always being informed of new controls and information, as well as the pro's and con's of each color.
You will also notice that there are multi-colored floors as well, in which you can only stand on if you're the corresponding color.
The main controls however are easy to grasp, consisting of the classical WASD controls, much alike most other Internet games, if you are new to them it should not take you long to master.
The beginner levels are very basic, jumping over small obstacles and recognizing what buttons to press and when.
However, after succeeding past the first floors, you will be introduced to new problems.
Such as a button that needs to be held down in order open the gate, however the gate may be on the other side of the room! Or even managing to pass through lasers without being injured! Do not be alarmed, you will be kindly hinted on the easier levels how to progress past these, and soon you will be on your own, and have to solve harder puzzles.
There are not many ways to die, just bear in mind to avoid the black sludge and swirling tentacles, using the controls you were taught in the tutorial levels.
As for the game play itself, the character does not move too fast and is therefore controllable, enabling you to overcome obstacles without making any irritating mistakes.
In conclusion, Primary is a clever idea and poses some different styles of game play, namely changing the colors for different abilities, and is suitable for all age ranges due to the simplicity of the earlier missions followed by a gradual increase in difficulty.
