How to Mod a PSX
- 1). Unplug the PlayStation's power cord from the outlet. Remove the audio/video cables from the back of the PlayStation (PSX), and place a bath towel on a table. Place the PSX face down on the towel. Remove the six screws from the bottom of the PSX using a Phillips head screwdriver.
- 2). Turn the PSX right side up. Place the PSX on the towel so that the front is facing you. Pull the top off the PSX and place it aside.
- 3). Locate the horizontally shaped metal box that is the CD drive inside the PSX. Locate the hole beneath the silver screw at the base of the drive. Roll a piece of paper into a tube.
- 4). Insert the end of the rolled piece of paper into the hole to the left of this hole. Push the paper into the hole. Place a piece of masking tape over the hole to secure the paper inside.
- 5). Place the top of the PSX on the towel face down. Locate the plastic tab on the inside of the top and press it in and against the top using your finger. Tape the tab to the top, using strips of masking tape.
- 6). Place the top back on the PSX, and turn the PSX face down on the towel. Reattach the screws. Place the PSX back where it was originally located. Reattach the audio and video cables, and plug the power cord back into the outlet.
- 7). Open the lid of the PSX. Place a PSX game disc on the spindle of the disc drive. Turn the PSX on, and let 10 seconds pass.
- 8). Pull the PSX game disc off the spindle. Place the backup PSX game disc on the spindle. Do nothing until you see the disc drive begin to slow down as it spins the disc.
- 9). Pull the backup PSX game disc off the spindle. Place the PSX game disc on the spindle. Do nothing until you see the PlayStation logo disappear from the screen.

Pull the PSX game disc off the spindle. Place the backup PSX game disc on the spindle. Close the lid. The backup will now boot up and let you play it.
