So you've decided with your travel partner€"a friend, a family member, a significant other€"to go to Greece on your next holiday. Now, though, you are a little worried about what to do when you are there. The beach is nice for a day or two, but after that you get bored. You may wonder what else there is to do on trips to Greece. Once the sunbathing and water sports have been exhausted, how else will you entertain yourself? The answers are as varied as the people who choose Greece as their destination.

Land Sports

Trips to Greece are not just for those who wish to laze around in the sun all day. They also provide plenty to do for sports enthusiasts. Greece has many fantastic hiking and biking trails for travelers to explore. There are options for advanced cyclists and hikers and also for beginners. Mount Olympus (3000 meters/ 9800 feet), located on the mainland near Thessaloniki, offers something for all levels as well as breath-taking scenery. Beginners can hike and bike the lower, less steep elevations, and people with more skill and experience can tackle the final section between the Skala and Mytikas summits. Other hiking and biking options exist throughout the country.

Sky Sports

For those not into land sports, trips to Greece can also offer opportunities to take to the skies for their highs. The islands offer picturesque spots for all kinds of sky sports, but the azure seas and white sands make especially beautiful scenery for a parasailing adventure. Some suggestions for riding the skies over the mainland include skydiving in Lamia, Thiva and Thessaloniki or paragliding in Epirus, Macedonia and Peloponnese. The choices, though, are as limitless as the skies.

Culinary Treasures

Not everyone is a sports enthusiast, of course. Some people prefer to take it easy and indulge their taste buds when they travel. For those people, trips to Greece can include many culinary treasures. Some people might be surprised to learn that Greece is one of the world's oldest wine-producing regions. Since wine is produced all over the country, winery tours and tastings can take place nearly anywhere: on the Aegean Islands, the Ionian Islands and Crete and central Greece, Epirus, Macedonia and Peloponnese on the mainland. Greece is also famous for ouzo, an anise-flavored liqueur. Ouzeries€"small, local caf©s where ouzo is served with appetizers such as salad, calamari, cheese and olives€"can be found even in the smallest villages. Greek cooking is delicious and among the healthiest in the world. Travelers can sample Greek food in restaurants, but they can also experience it hands-on through cooking classes or culinary tours. Lovers of food and drink will have no lack of options to keep them happy in Greece.

Have It All

Variety adds excitement to life; the best holidays are often the ones featuring the most variety. When planning trips to Greece, you and your travel partner don't need to choose between the beach and other activities. You can have it all; indulge in a sample (or several) from each category to create a trip you will both always remember fondly.
