How to Remove a Sempron 3400 CPU Fan

    • 1). Disconnect the fan power cord from the motherboard. Simply pull upward to unplug the power cord.

    • 2). Turn the plastic lever, located on one side of the fan unit, counterclockwise to loosen the latches on the unit.

    • 3). Locate the two metal clips on opposite sides of the fan, connected to plastic tabs.

    • 4). Insert a flathead screwdriver at the base of one of the clips and pry the clip out and over the tab.

    • 5). Repeat Step 4 on the opposite side of the fan to remove the other clip. Note that once you remove the first clip, the second clip loses its tension and is much easier to remove.

    • 6). Lift directly up on the fan unit to remove it form the motherboard. The CPU is directly beneath the unit.
