- 1). Consider the car's scale. The most common is 1/10, meaning the RC car will be one-tenth the size of a real car. This scale will work for most hobbyists, but always be sure to ask about scale restrictions if you are planning on racing the car in an RC competition.
- 2). Make sure you factor in battery costs. RC Hobbies Online, a Michigan-based RC model seller, explains, "you'll have to stop every ten minutes or so to recharge the battery pack," so it's a good idea to purchase fresh backup batteries. This allows for continued operation while the initial battery is charging.
