Backyard Storage Shed - Build the Perfect Shed For Yourself
We found a quaint little house we both fell in love with.
Once we moved, we realized that although it was just the two of us for the most part, we still had a lot of stuff.
My wife refused to throw away things that meant a lot to her.
Now we faced the challenge of not enough storage.
It seemed the only option for us was to build a backyard storage shed.
This would be the solution for storing things that we didn't use everyday, but still wanted to have access to on occasion.
My wife loves to keep everything organized and insisted that she did not want to hunt for things when she needed them.
I decided that a shed designed with both front and back doors would serve this purpose.
I found that this particular design was a little more complex so it took a bit longer and ended up costing us a little more, but we are thrilled with the results.
My wife is happy because she can get in and out with little difficulty and all of her knick knacks have a home.
One of the biggest challenges that I faced with this structure was the placement.
I could not back the shed up to the property line because we needed access to both ends.
I ended up turning the shed sideways.
There are several important things you must do before you begin building your shed:
- Outdoor structures such as sheds may be subject to local building codes and zoning laws.
Be sure to contact your city's building department to discuss your project and see if you need to get a permit.
- Make sure the ground is level where your shed will be placed.
- Find out if you will need a permanent foundation consisting of piers installed below grade level.
It is a great investment and you have a lot of flexibility.
You can design a shed to fit your specific needs, as we did.
