How many times have you seen yourself in a photo or passed a mirror in a store or at home and said to yourself "Do I really look that big?".
In my opinion, more than once is too many.
For most of us the problem area is the stomach, whether you're a man or woman.
Then the question pops into your mind "How do I get rid of stomach fat?".
Getting rid of stomach fat is something that millions of Americans would like to do.
Unfortunately, contrary to many of the ads and infomercials you see everyday there is no magic pill, diet or piece of exercise equipment that will get rid of stomach fat.
Oh sure, these products may "aid" in getting rid of stomach fat as part of a larger plan, but none of them on their own can do it.
But the ads sure make you believe that's the case.
No, the only way to get rid of stomach fat is with a concerted effort on your part to follow a healthy eating plan coupled with a targeted whole body exercise plan.
Eating I don't even like to use the word "diet" as it conjures up bad images in most people's minds.
In reality, you need to eat and eat often in order to lose weight.
You need to stoke your body's metabolism with the right foods.
This is an attitude adjustment as much as anything else.
You must be willing to change many of the things you may currently eat, but you don't have to eliminate all of the "bad" things either.
You won't go hungry and your body will respond very favorably to the better food you put into it.
Exercise As mentioned earlier, there isn't a single pill, diet or piece of exercise equipment that will make you lose stomach fat by itself.
You can't lose weight on a particular part of your body.
Body fat disappears with proper diet and exercise over the entire body, wherever there is fat.
Stomach fat is always the last to go because it is the fat that the body stores for emergencies.
To lose fat you need two kinds of exercise; core strengthening and aerobic/cardio.
Core strengthening works your core muscle groups.
In addition to your core (muscles of your midsection) it includes other large muscle groups in your body like your legs.
Working these muscle groups burns large amounts of calories not only while your exercising but for several hours afterward.
Aerobic/cardio exercise among other things increases stamina and should be done in between core strengthening.
Recent studies have shown that we may not need nearly as much aerobic/cardio exercise as previously thought to lose weight.
The key to getting rid of stomach fat is getting the combination of healthy eating, core strengthening and aerobic/cardio exercises correct for you.
You have to be willing to make a change in your lifestyle.
Surprisingly, it doesn't have to be as big of a change as you might think.
You don't have to spend all day in a gym or buy expensive prepared meals.
Just remember, there is no quick overnight fix for getting rid of stomach fat.
If you know that fact going into it and know that it will take effort and consistency on your part, and that results will come slow and steady instead of dramatic and instantaneous, you will succeed.
