There are millions of people experiencing the privilege of working from home.
Some individuals are working for themselves and others are working for corporations.
I have often heard those who are not so fortunate say, "You are so lucky to be able to work from home.
" However, the reality is, those who work from home for corporations are not that fortunate at all if their true desire is freedom from punching a clock and the freedom to do whatever they want whenever they want to do it.
The only true benefit to working at home is the avoidance of rush hour traffic and reduced car maintenance costs, possibly.
You are still confined to a desk for up to 8 hours or more, you salary is still limited, and you still have a boss that can tell you what to do and when you can take time off.
Although you are home with your family, you still do not have the ability to spend quality time with them.
Now for those with a home based business, they have a little more freedom.
There is no salary cap or someone telling them what to do and when they can take time off.
Few people understand that having a home based business can be just as time consuming as having a traditional job.
Depending on the type of business you choose to be a part of, you may spend hours upon hours away from your family building a business in which the compensation plan requires you to work really hard for up to a year or more before you begin to see the type of money you desire to make.
Think about how much time it takes to give hotel presentations, in-home presentations, go to an individual's home to give demonstrations and allow them to sample the product.
By the end of a week, you have worked far more than 40 hours and you may not have made one sell.
In the end, you start to wish you could just work from home for a set salary as oppose to working countless hours for what seems like on a few dollars per hour.
The thing to remember is if you really desire to work for yourself, from home, you are going to have to work hard at it.
You will need to work just as hard as you would from someone else who is offering you a bonus to meeting monthly goals.
So ask yourself, "What do I really want?" Do you want the freedom to come and go as you please and work you business anytime you want or do you simply want to work from home with a set salary, benefits and a boss.
