Purdue Music Grants
- The Jenny Helms Leadership Scholarship is set aside for a female member of Purdue's "All American" Marching Band (AAMB). To be eligible for the grant, a student must be in her second continuous year in the band, have "high academic standards" and show a great degree of activity in both on-campus and community-wide organizations and causes. The recipient must also show superb personal character and demonstrate a commitment to Purdue and the ideals for which it stands.
- The Wilbur T. Leath Memorial p Scholarships provide financial aid to incoming freshmen or transfer students who are involved with Purdue's bands or orchestras. These awards, which amounted to $1,000 as of February 2011, are available to full-time Indiana residents enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours at Purdue. Applicants for Leath Scholarships must undergo an audition process, and scholarship winners must enroll in a band or orchestra ensemble as an instrument musician. January 12 is the application deadline.
- The Miller Marching Band Scholarship is intended for students enrolled in Purdue University's marching band. The grant covers the full cost of attending the university, including tuition, books, room and board, school supplies and miscellaneous expenses for one academic year. It is available to juniors, seniors or graduate students. The university will consider both academic merit and financial need in selecting recipients.
- Named after Purdue alums, the Merlin M. and Margaret Q. Harlow Scholarship assists incoming students, with a preference given to those majoring in music. In addition to Purdue students, the scholarship is also open to music majors attending other colleges or universities.
