Credit building is a strong and valuable practice that many know how to do but very few actually do it well and are able to maintain responsible credit usage to boost credit score.
There are many experts who suggest opening and servicing three different credit sources.
This could be one credit card, one gas card, and a vehicle loan.
If you are able to service your debt responsible by paying down a little beyond your minimum balance that is due, you'll be well on your way to building credit.
During your first couple of credit accounts it can be beneficial to have a co-signer for you as attempt to boost credit score.
The lenders will use the co-signer's credit score to help determine the line amount and interest rate to qualify.
This can certainly help reduce the interest charges on your future debts which in turn will lower your monthly payments.
However this is a big responsibility and should only be used is you know you can be responsible and the co-singer fully trusts you.
Otherwise there will be some major problems if you don't service the debt properly.
Once you begin to establish good credit you will be contacted by many banks and various lenders with new offers in the mail.
Some of there may come with a lot of perks such as cash back, tee shirts, or frequent flier miles.
Be cautious with this because it will hurt your credit if you have too many cards established that are not being used.
I typically recommend have no more than one or two cards when your first starting out, so you understand the basics and can act responsibly and boost credit score soon.
