ONE OF THE BEST IN NORTHAMERICA: THE ANNAPOLIS POWER BOAT SHOW
On October 12th, 1907, the 35th annual United States Powerboat Show opens on the City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland. Hailed as one of the finest the Annapolis Power Boat Show offers something for nearly everyone. The gamut runs from luxurious motor yachts to large offshore fishing trawlers. Cruisers, centre consoles and all the varieties currently available are on display at the Annapolis City Dock and Harbor.
An annual event, the oldest and largest in-water power boat show continues to offer a wide variety of boats and an ever expanding approach to displaying them.
In 2001, a show-within-a-show was first opened. The multihulls, together with the trawlers, were displayed separately for the first time. In 2007, the Annapolis Power Boat Show has added a new TrawlerPort and a new power Catamaran section. The two new sections have magazine sponsors. The former is sponsored by PassageMaker magazine, the latter by Power Multihulls magazine.
In all, some 600 boats will be on hand for visitors to ogle. These will include some of the latest models as well as and every accessory and gadget to go with them you could possibly imagine.
The Annapolis Power Boat Show is where many of our manufacturers choose to introduce new boats, products or services. In 2007, Nordhavn Yachts is expected to debut their 64 foot trawler yacht while Caribe Inflatables is introducing an eight-foot inflatable dinghy. Products range from new paint to brand new technology in navigation.
On board electronics is constantly unfolding new technologically, sometimes in leaps and bounds. Two companies, SI-TEX marine and Nobeltec, are both introducing new navigation systems.
As for other important items - what is a power boat show without the debut of a new line of engines? To the thrill of many, Mack Boring will be introducing a new line of Yanmar diesel engines.
Overall, it is expected the Annapolis Power Boat Show will show case thousands of boating products, gear and accessories. With three days to view the exciting new products and to catch a glimpse of your favourites. There are door prizes and a special VIP pass for those who want to get a sneak preview. It is reasonably priced in this day and age. Parking not a major problem and Annapolis has many hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts to stay in. Do, however, book in advance. The show is very popular.
