Corporate Code of Conduct Act
- The act would have required corporations that employ more than 20 individuals from foreign nations to create a code of conduct. The code of conduct was to cover several broad issues, including workers' rights and guaranteeing a healthy and safe work environment.
- The act would have encouraged executive agencies to give contract preference to companies that have adopted a corporate code. Additionally, the act would have required the termination of contracts with any businesses that break their corporate code.
- Representative Cynthia McKinney of Georgia originally proposed the Corporate Code of Conduct Act in the U.S. House of Representative on May 11, 2006. The act was referred to the House Subcommittee on Financial Services, which never voted on it.
