How to Upload Photos or Pictures
- 1). Check your computer to see if you have the necessary software for uploading photos. Most operating systems allow you to upload photos without adding extra programs. Additionally, most digital cameras come with a CD for uploading your photos. If you are using the CD or any other program, ensure that it is properly installed on your computer before beginning.

Plug your camera into the computer with the camera cable. The port on the camera may be hidden by a rubber flap or other cover. The other end of the cable will fit into any of the USB ports in the computer. When the camera is connected, any photo software you have should start up on its own. - 3). Follow the steps in the photography software. Most photo software programs will guide you with step-by-step instructions. If the software does not start up or you would like to do the uploading manually, open the camera file on your computer by clicking on the "Start" button (bottom, left corner) and then the "Computer" button. A window will pop up with all the current hardware displayed. Choose the camera file. In a separate window, click "Start," "Documents" or "My Documents," and then "Pictures" or "My Pictures" to open the photo file. You can choose an existing file or create a new one.

Copy and paste your camera file to the location where you are saving the photos. If you want all the photos, go to "File" or "Organize" and choose "Select All"; for PCs, you can select all by pushing "ctrl+a", while for Macs, you use "command (apple key) +a." If you only want certain photos, keep the "ctrl" or "command" button down while selecting your photos, or go to "File" or "Organize" and choose "Copy" for each photo. Move your mouse to the open file and click "ctrl+p" or "command+p" or go to "Organize" or "File" and click "Paste." - 5). Upload from a hard copy of a photo or picture by placing the photo facedown on your scanner or printer. Click the "Scan" button on your printer/scanner. Once the image is scanned, the software will automatically pop up and ask you what you want to do with the scanned image. Some programs automatically save the image to "My Scans," so if you accidentally close the program before saving it to your preferred location, you can cut and paste your photo/picture from that location.
