Nannies are an ideal childcare solution! Finding quality childcare is one of the biggest issues you'll face as a parent.
Every parent is looking for someone who will nurture, love, cuddle, play with and care for their child as well as they do.
If you are returning to work, it is best to start thinking about childcare soon after your baby is born, or even earlier if you live in a larger centre where childcare may be limited.
Every parent appreciates, that when it comes time to begin the search for childcare, the process can be an onerous and emotional one.
Although the cost of daycare is quite inexpensive, there are drawbacks.
Besides the long waiting lists, you child will most likely be sick more frequently due to the amount of contact with other children, and if your child is very ill, daycare centres will not allow him or her to attend.
You will need to find back up care, or be prepared to take days off work.
If your work hours are longer than the standard hours of operation for the daycare centre, you will need to arrange for drop off and/or pickup by either a family member or another childcare provider.
Additionally parents' options are usually limited when there is more than one child requiring care.
In most instances daycare is the most widely available and used option, however families with two or more children are hard pressed to find a facility with room for all siblings needing daycare.
It is a daunting prospect for parents who are then faced with the realization that they may have to enrol one child in a different centre to the others.
This can be especially true when it comes to multiple birth siblings (twins, triplets etc.
) Many find that a nanny is a very viable childcare solution.
A nanny provides quality childcare in your home, with costs for a live-in nanny quite similar to having two children in daycare.
In most cases the cost is even less, particularly in multiple child households.
When considering a nanny, you usually have two options; a live-in and a live-out nanny.
Both provide one-on-one, individualized care in your home as well as some light housekeeping duties.
This individualized care is of extra importance if you have a young infant.
With a nanny, babies are able to be held more often and comforted when crying, and all the children are cared for in a familiar and comfortable environment; their own home.
