Laying False Favourites in Horse Races

103 13
There are many reasons why a horse should win a race and we as punters deliberate to our hearts content on such matters, which makes our sport such a wonderful way of life.
Talks of great jockey trainer combinations and trends of past years all add to a wonderful but often unsolvable puzzle! Using the internet betting exchanges can give us yet another great deliberating point of which horse can lose the race, and by reversing role with the bookie the exchanges allow us to la them!! Many times we see horses that cannot win the race due various opinions we have but often these horses are at prices above 10/1 and if they did happen to win then we could lose a substantial amount of money.
By laying one horse we have all the others in the race running for us, were as the bookies have laid most of the horses they are going to win most of the time.
For us to profit by laying just a single horse we need to lay horses at as short a price as we can.
And to do this we really need to lay the favourite in the race.
Every race has a favourite, but the ones we are searching for are weak favourites, ones that maybe should not be favourite for various reasons and here are a few examples you could look for: 1.
The time since the horses last run.
For example if a horse hasn't run for say over 80 days its fitness may well be suspect.
2.
It may be "easy" in the market for example opens at 2/1 and then drifts to 5/2.
3.
There maybe a lot of other horses in the race who had placed or won their last start.
With practise these things can become second nature to you and just glance over a race card can give you a possible favourite to lay.
The beauty of the exchanges is that you can start in a small way, perhaps studying the card on the internet the evening before and then laying what you think on the morning of the race perhaps before you got o work and hopefully having some cash waiting in your Betfair account when you return!! The bookies do it and you can do it providing you put in the time and effort to discover the False Favourites and lay them to profit each time you spot one.
