Things to Do Within 50 Miles of Gulf Shores, Alabama
- Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, "The Little Zoo That Could," survived not one but two hurricanes back-to-back. The zoo features 290 animals, including lions, tigers, bears and monkeys just a short distance from the beach.
- Fort Morgan Historic Site guarded Mobile Bay during the Civil War and played a key role in the famous battle in which Union Admiral Farragut uttered the immortal words, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead."
- Hiking at Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge

The park offers camping, fishing on the Gulf Coast's largest pier and hikes, including the 7-mile long Backcountry National Recreational Trail.
