Austria in the Summer
Most people of course choose to visit Austria in the winter months in order to go skiing. But there are just as many wonderful things to do and see throughout the rest of the year in this wonderful country. Throughout the summer months you can explore it by going for a hike or by riding a mountain bike if you are feeling energetic. But of course if you want to take things a little more leisurely you can, including taking a swim in one of the many lakes during the summer.
So what sorts of attractions can one enjoy when visiting Austria say during the summer? Below we take a look at some that are worth considering visiting at this time of the year.
1. Hohe Tauern National Park - This is a very popular destination with those who come to Austria on holiday. This is the largest of all national parks to be found in Europe covering a total of 1,786 sq km (just over 1,116 sq miles) and at the heart of which lies the country's highest mountain, Grossglockner. As you wander around this park you will be amazed at the wide variety of different flora and fauna on show.
2. Krimml Falls - You have the option to either drive to this particular attraction or if you would prefer take the bus from Zell am See. This particular attraction is made up of 3 sections and reaches a combine height of 380m (just over 1,246 feet) above sea level. Once at the top you are offered beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside including the village of Krimml.
3. Kuenringerburg - If you would like to view the River Danube that runs through Austria from a different perspective then you should take the time to climb to the summit of this hill. To reach it will take around 15 minutes on foot from Durnstein.
