How to Lower the Seat Height on a Moto Guzzi

    • 1). Lower your suspension in the rear of the bike. This is the easiest way to alter the seat height, but it could cause rides to be bumpy and painful. Unless you have experience working on bikes, you'll most likely want a mechanic to do this.

    • 2). Cut out a portion of the seat. Measure and mark the shape of your butt on the seat. Then cut down into the seat foam using a knife or a pair of scissors. This will most likely ruin the seat and cause it to fall apart but may lower your sitting height. A better idea is to let an upholsterer reshape and re-cover the seat. Coordinate with the prospective collaborator before you pull the seat off the bike. Finally, look for an aftermarket seat for your Guzzi. Other companies may manufacture applicable seats that have lower profiles.

    • 3). Wear taller boots when you ride. Added heel size can potentially compensate for your lack of height.

    • 4). Talk with a mechanic about your options. If you're in need of only a slight height adjustment, a combination of customizing the suspension and bringing a smaller seat forward a bit could give you the clearance you need.
