Kick Ball Instructions
- 1). Set up the kickball field just like you would a baseball field. Use the base markers to designate a home plate, first base, second base and third base.
- 2). Separate into teams of about nine players each. The team on the field should have a pitcher, first base player, second base player, third base player, a catcher, shortstop and three outfielders. If you have fewer than nine players per team, eliminate the catcher first and then the outfielders, followed by the shortstop. The other team will kick first.
- 3). Pitch a big rubber ball to the kicker by rolling it towards the home plate. Get it past the kicker for a strike.
- 4). Kick the ball into the field, and run to a base. If you contact the ball with a body part other than your foot or leg, it does not qualify as a legal kick. If a fielder catches the ball, then the kicker is out. If a fielder tags a base, touches the kicker with the ball, or throws the ball and hits the kicker with the ball, then the kicker is out. If a player throws the ball and it misses the kicker, then the kicker can only go forward one base.
- 5). Don't hit the kicker in the head or neck when trying to get him out, even if it is a soft ball. This doesn't count, and he will be considered safe.
- 6). Run off course to avoid someone tagging you with the ball. You can run up to four feet off course according to the official WAKA Kickball rules.
- 7). Avoid kicking the ball between the home plate and first and home plate and third. These are considered foul balls. Four foul balls equal one out.
- 8). Strike out the kicking team three times in order to switch from fielding to kicking.
- 9). Play up to nine innings, until 20 points or until you simply don't want to play anymore.
