      Seattle, Washington, is home to dozens of catholic schools from various congregations and with different teaching philosophies and programs. Four schools stand out from the group because of tuition costs, after-school programs and parental ranking, and each of the four schools is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).

    St. John Catholic School

    • St. John Catholic School is highlighted by the GreatSchools organization for being a caring school with teachers who take a proactive approach to learning. The school received five out of five stars in principal leadership, teacher quality, extracurricular activities, parent involvement and safety and discipline. St. John is also highly ranked by community members on Judy's Book and on other national registries. As of 2010, tuition was $3,245 a year.

    Assumption-St. Bridget School

    • Assumption-St. Bridget School is a private Catholic school that earned four stars from GreatSchools in principal leadership, teaching quality and extracurricular activities and five stars for parent involvement and safety and discipline. Assumption accepts students from kindergarten through eighth grade with class sizes of approximately 30 students. The school also boasts Western Association of Schools & Colleges and Western Catholic Educational Association accreditation. As of 2010, tuition was $4,992 a year.

    Villa Academy

      Villa Academy serves preschool through 8th-grade students and earned four stars from GreatSchools in principle leadership, teacher quality, extracurricular activities and safety and disciple. As of 2010, annual tuition ranged based on age: preschool, $4,410 (age 3), $6,950 (age 4) and $9,750 (age 5); K to 5th, $13,050; and grades 6th to 8th, $13,600. Villa provides active clubs (math, chess, writing and others) and a large musical program that includes various musical groups. Villa students also participate in various community service activities.

    Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic School

    • Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School is a ministry of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and is located in west Seattle. GreatShools gave the school five stars in principle leadership and four stars in teacher quality, extracurricular activities, parent involvement and safety and discipline. In addition, parents on GreatSchools gave the school five stars for overall experience. Our Lady of Guadalupe accepts students from preschool through eighth grade. As of 2010, tuition costs were $2,750 for church parishioners and $3,000 for non-parishioners. The school also offers 10 percent discounts for second children and 20 percent discounts for third children (restrictions apply). Our Lady of Guadalupe features a variety of in-school activities (music, departmentalized middle school) and after-school programs, including art, drama and extended day classes.
