When Renault launched Koleos in 2011, it wasn't as familiar as we see it today.
After the phenomenal success of Renault Duster, the brand not only made a household name, but also became a tough competition for other labels like Nissan, Chevrolet and Honda.
And now with a major makeover of its Indian flagship, the French company has again unveiled its showstopper for the year 2014, Koleos.
The brand new Koleos comes with a matchless design and bold features that are sure to turn heads.
Every inch of the car has been crafted to make it outstandingly comfortable, ruggedly elegant, instinctively safe and stunningly stylish.
Looks & Essence Unlike the earlier rugged SUV look, the fresh version looks smoother, but carries over the design language of the model that it has replaced.
The hefty machine has been enriched with a wider grille from headlamp to headlamp, a larger Renault badge, alloy wheels and chrome side protectors that not just enhance its looks, but also add to its comfort level.
However, there are no major upgrades in interiors; the dashboard design does justice to the SUV standards.
But something that would definitely make you fall in love with the interiors of this car is the premium touch Bose music system, rain sensing wipers, six-way power adjustable driver's seat, tilt and telescopic steering column and darkness sensing headlamps.
The four-seater ensures abundance of boot space and also enough space for effortless haulage of large objects.
Performance & Scalability Koleos comes with a 173 PS 2.
0 litre engine that delivers 23 PS more power along with a maximum torque of 360 Nm from a low 2000 rpm.
The full size SUV is a comfortable highway cruiser that swallows every speed bump it drives over.
It has a good grip, can be controlled well and thus strikes an amazing balance between the ride and handling.
The differential lock, automatic 4WD system from traction loss and its ability to switch from 2WD to 4WD makes it an optimum choice over other SUVs'.
The depart angles, approach and ground clearance help it perform remarkably off-road, as well.
On the darker side, it suffers a terrible turbo lag below 2000 rpm.
The six speed automatic transmission does not downshift quickly and thus makes overtaking maneuvers cumbrous.
Although the cheaper price tag and three new variants in Koleos has already started spreading its charm; but Audi, BMW and Toyota has already made the competition tough for Renault.
So, are you ready for a test drive?
