How do I Apply for CPUC's Low Income Energy Efficiency Plan?
- 1). Call the Energy Assistance phone number for your public utilities provider and speak with a representative regarding your situation. The representative will ask you for you home address, your account number, your telephone number and the correct spelling of your first and last name. The representative will then send you an application to apply for the LIEE program. Some utilities providers have website pages detailing the programs offered under CARE and LIFE that you may view before calling.
- 2). Fill out the application when it arrives. Make sure you fill out the entire application and provide accurate information. In order to qualify, you will need to meet income guidelines according to the size of your household, as outlined on the LIEE webpage.
- 3). Mail the application back to your public utilities provider at the address indicated on the application. Make sure you follow any special instructions required by your public utilities provider and include all required documentation to prove your eligibility. Your public utilities provider will review your application upon receipt to assure eligibility and then contact you by telephone to enroll you in the LIEE program.
