Located on the ocean's edge in southeastern Maine, the Bar Harbor Regency is just a short drive from the entrance to Acadia National Park, the first national park east of the Mississippi River. The luxury hotel houses 278 guest rooms and suites, many of which boast views of the sea or offshore islands. An outdoor heated pool is flanked by a hot tub and the poolside Tiki Bar. Indoor dining options include both Stewman's Lobster Pound, which serves traditional Maine lobster bakes and a variety of fresh seafood dishes, and The Edenfield Restaurant, which is open for breakfast and dinner. Two tennis courts and a putting green are also found on the hotel grounds. - Established in 1883, the Nonantum Inn is located in Kennebunkport, a seaside village in Maine's southwestern corner. Open seasonally from late April through mid-December, the inn offers 111 guest rooms that are divided between the Carriage House Inn and the Portside Lodge. The Carriage House features 55 individually decorated rooms, which may include a four-poster bed, large picture window, hardwood floors, Jacuzzi tub or a gas-lit wood stove. Portside Lounge rooms feature either a private patio, balcony or gas wood stove. Breakfast and dinner are served at the inn's 95 Ocean restaurant, while live entertainment is offered several nights a week. Kennebunkport itself is home to award-winning restaurants, boutiques and shops, two playhouses and a handful of museums and galleries, much of which are located just minutes from the Nonantum Inn.
- The Tidewater Hotel was built on a bridge in Vinalhaven Island, located off the south-central coast of Maine. The motel -- open from March to December -- offers simply furnished accommodations that are complimented by neutral tones and nautical decor. Most provide commanding views of either the bay or the village, and most have private balconies overloooking the harbor. Some also include full kitchens. Its location on the family-friendly Vinalhaven Island, Maine's largest off-shore island, makes the Tidewater Motel the perfect base for those traveling with children. The island offers hiking trails, abandoned granite quarries turned shallow swimming holes and a history museum. Located just half a mile north of the motel, the Vinalhaven Historical Society's museum features an extensive collection of artifacts from the Civil War, area schools and farms and the fishing, horse-net and granite industries.
- The Sea Cliff House is situated oceanfront in Old Orchard Beach on Maine's southern coast. Each of the motel's three buildings offers a different type of accommodation: two-room kitchenette efficiencies, Jacuzzi rooms or ocean-view rooms. All rooms come furnished with refrigerators and provide wireless high-speed Internet accessibility. The motel grounds feature a pool, umbrella tables and lounge chairs, barbecue grills and a hot tub, while Old Orchard Beach's seven-mile shoreline is just steps from Sea Cliff House. The beachfront Palace Playland amusement park and Funtown/Splashtown U.S.A., northern New England's largest family-themed amusement and water park, are both within three miles of the motel.
