USA and Pakistan Face to Face

Ten big years inAfghanistanand the result is still Zero. This is whatUSAachieved after 9/11 that took over a decade to unearth Bin Ladin and eliminating (as assumed) him in a suspicious manner. The garbage of failures and idiocies piled up since 9/11 and the events took place thereafter made that garbage rot and rot by the passage of time. With all the failures on the war front and back home, Obama's Administration seems to be playing one final card to win the support of US masses. Like Bush played the same card to win his second term, Obama is also planning a carbon copy action and this time againstPakistanto get some percentage of support from theUSmasses that have clearly shown their dissatisfaction on the performance of the GOP.

The Shakespeare's drama of Bin Ladin's elimination and events thereafter are seen as a series of attempts that are being made to lift up the popularity of American President on sugar cane sticks. Most of the international observers are seeing the recent vehement and venomous statements of Admiral Mike Mullen as an indirect acceptance of failures and loss of pride on the Afghan soil.USnation has every right to ask that 78% of the Afghan territory is now under control of the forces that were once defeated convincingly. The intensity and lethality of the Taliban is still there. Recent attacks on the Afghan Capital by Taliban and other similar assaults have raised a big question about the achievements of theUSforces after spending $1,257,146,534,684/- (one trillion two hundred fifty-seven billion one hundred forty-six million five hundred thirty-four thousand six hundred eighty-four dollars   and   zero  cents) till now. Was this amount spent to control few urban centers inAfghanistanand that too not efficiently??

The garbage of continuing idiocies was to be shifted somewhere on some weaker head around. Putting all the blame of failures and misjudgments inAfghanistanonPakistanis a clear sign of accepting its own shameful failures by theUSA.USAhad enough resources, technology and monetary support to achieve that goal that was to defeat the then regime of Taliban. Had US been able to seal the Pak Afghan border completely through state of the art systems that it uses to protect its own borders, US would have been in much secure position inside Afghanistan. It is ironic that US forces and high Command did not act wisely and professionally and speculated blindly that barefooted and barehanded enemy would succumb in few hours of fight after the first assault after 9/11.

In my personal opinionUSAclearly underestimated the enthusiasm and courage of the forces that fought against an intruding enemy likeUSSRand knocked that bear down convincingly. It is true that if lessons are not taken from the history the results could be much similar. It is true that the tribal areas ofPakistanhave no comparison to the magnitude of territory of similar terrain insideAfghanistan.  The hideouts and the safe havens inAfghanistanwere much in abundance than what is available on a grim territorial belt of similar nature inNorth West Pakistan. The present propaganda by the US State Department and the media about the Haqqani network and the ISI is not based on facts. It is rather an attempt to deceive and confuse its own nation about the actual goals and actual targets that have been achieved in the war tornAfghanistan.

US should now become realistic and should not take the fear of loosing ride on the brain of those running the show. Winning and loosing is the part of the conflicts like this but it is also true that changing the mindset of Afghan people is not only hard but next to impossible for all the powers who tried their luck on that soil. It is also not wise to find a pillow to punch out the anger and frustration likeUSAis doing withPakistan.Pakistansupported, cooperated and sacrificed more than its capacity in the war that was neither started byPakistannor is responsible for the compound failures of incompetent US Army leadership. It wasPakistanthat was brokering the deal with Taliban to hand over Bin Ladin butUSAwas not ready nor interested to make that thing happen. It wasUSAthat was high in confidence to defeat the Afghan nation in 24 hours, but the result is visible.Afghanistan's terrain was never suitable for conventional wars and after getting PhD in the guerilla warfare after the Soviet Invasion, the Afghan freedom fighters were in commanding position on the ground when it comes to confront a fully organized and well equipped enemy.

Haqqani network's coalition with ISI is the story drafted by the CIA and it has no solid base to support. It is time American nation should come out of fairy tales phobia created by their own government that raises new enemies for theUSnation for every decade to run their own Military Industrial Complex.USAshould now focus much on repairing its own economy that is showing the alarming signs of last stage of Hepatitis and the fort wall of the lone super power is displaying the visible cracks. Obama's job plan was failed so the bail outs had been cutting the tail out. In the situation where crisis over crisis are surrounding the GOP, time for realistic and positive thinking is needed.Americais not at all capable to indulge itself into any further conflict no matter how small a nation it is intimidating and confronting now. When it was failed miserably to control the barehanded Afghanis, what would be the outcome if ISI and Pak Military would pull out its support in Afghan actions. The home sick CIA agents that are responsible to run the show inAfghanistandepend heavily on the input of ISI and once that eye is closed, there would be complete darkness around and it would become even harder for theUSforces to save their heads from a surrounded assaults.

Pakistani andUSleadership should together formulate a peaceful and respectful solution of this crisis. Calming down the nerves and keeping the doors open for diplomacy is the need for today. Wars and conflicts are never a wise tool to settle the disputes. There should be seriousness adopted by all the key players in this region.

Let's hope that region ofAfghanistanandPakistanwould move towards and peaceful and prosperous future.
